Bold headline: RPO teams up with cybersecurity experts after October incident.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra says it has engaged cybersecurity professionals following an October event that disrupted parts of its networks.
The RPO reports that all network disruptions have now been resolved. The incident did not affect the data-housing system for patrons and donors. The nonprofit continues to work with its security team and staff to assess whether any other sensitive information may have been exposed.
The organization notes that safeguards were in place that helped limit the overall impact. The RPO’s full statement from a spokesperson reads:
“The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) experienced a cyber incident in October that caused a limited disruption to access within certain segments of our IT network. Since then, we have partnered with cybersecurity experts and have fully remediated all network issues associated with the incident. Access to the affected network areas has been restored and normal operations have resumed. We are grateful that safeguards in place mitigated the impact of this incident.”
“The system that stores our patron and donor transaction data was not affected by the incident. We are actively collaborating with our security team and staff to determine the extent to which any additional sensitive data may have been impacted and are evaluating all available remediation options. The RPO takes data security and privacy seriously and will provide further updates as appropriate.”
