Losing someone we love always leaves a profound mark on our hearts, and Mary Cribbin’s passing is no exception. Her peaceful departure on December 1st, 2025, after a brief illness, marks the end of a life full of warmth, dedication, and connections—yet her memory continues to inspire those who knew her. But here's where it gets interesting: her story is a testament to the importance of community, family, and the quiet strength we find in each other during difficult times.
Mary was a cherished resident of Heathfield, Castleplunkett, Castlerea, in County Roscommon, and she also hailed from Carrowcrin, Kilrooskey, Roscommon. Her life journey was marked by her loving relationship with her family, and her legacy is carried on through her husband Louis, her children Kevin, Deirdre, Gráinne, and Mark. Her daughters-in-law Keeva and Rebecca, along with her sons-in-law Evan and Seán Óg, remember her as a guiding and caring presence.
Her siblings, Margaret from Carrowcrin, Helen from Lecarrow, Michael from Kilteevan, and Henry from Carrowcrin, along with her uncle Phonsie O’Connor from Boyle, are among the many relatives and friends who will cherish her memory. She shared her life with neighbors and friends met through her work and daily interactions, creating a network of love and support that extended well beyond her family circle.
Mary’s role as a Nana was especially dear to her, with her grandchildren Abi, Aidan, Evan, Erin, Cora, Cillian, and Hailey often at the heart of her stories and warmest moments.
May Mary’s gentle soul find eternal peace. Her remains will be at Flanagans Funeral Home in Castleplunkett on Thursday evening, December 4th, from 4 PM to 7 PM, providing family, friends, and community members a chance to pay their respects.
The funeral mass will be held at Kilmurray Church at noon on Friday, December 5th, followed by her burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Castlerea. For those unable to attend in person, condolences can be shared through the online book below or via email at info@flanaganundertakers.ie.
